Master AIV: Interdisciplinary approaches to life sciences

Applications for the Interdisciplinary Approaches in Life Science Master Programme (AIV in its French acronym) at Paris Descartes and Paris Diderot Universities are now open for the 2018/19  academic year. The deadline for applications is May 31st 2018.

The programme is designed for students from across the world, motivated by high-level interdisciplinary training in English. We welcome students from a wide range of backgrounds (Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering…). A more detailed description of the Master is available on the AIV web page (

The 1st year of the AIV Master, named "Systems and Synthetic Biology", focuses on the fundamentals of Quantitative and Integrative Biology through intensive 1st semester courses and a long 2nd semester internship in a laboratory chosen by the student or in participation with our multiple-award-winning international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Paris Bettencourt student team.

The 2nd year of the Master programme offers a unique approach of combining weekly collaborative course sessions with three internships throughout the year. Two personalized tracks are possible: (i) a general Interdisciplinary track which treats subjects across the different interfaces with Life Sciences (ii) a focused, Systems and Synthetic Biology track.

Students may apply to either the 1st year or directly to the 2nd year program, depending on their previous experience. The application form is available on our website:
